Flats, houses and shared drains
Drainage emergencies do not keep to a schedule, and they do not stay in one type of property. These are the situations people ring us about.
Flooding or backing up indoors
Water rising in a bath, a toilet that will not clear, or a kitchen that smells of drains. If it is safe, stop using water in the property and call 07301 977507.
Overflowing gullies and manholes
Water standing around an outside drain or a manhole cover can mean the main line is blocked. High-pressure water jetting is often the way to clear it.
Calls after dark
We offer a 24/7 emergency response, so an evening or overnight problem is a normal call for us, not an inconvenience.

Blocked drain questions in Welwyn Garden City
Can you come out in the evening for a flooding emergency?
Yes. We offer a 24/7 emergency response, including evenings, nights and weekends.
My flat is flooding. What should I do first?
Call 07301 977507 straight away. If it is safe, stop using water in the property while you wait, and send a photo on WhatsApp if you can.
Do you cover AL7 and AL8?
Yes, both AL7 and AL8 in Welwyn Garden City are covered.
Will you find the cause, or only clear the blockage?
Finding the cause is the point. After clearing the drain we can look at why it blocked, using a CCTV drain survey where it helps, so you are not calling again for the same problem.
If the problem is happening right now
Call first. We would rather talk you through it than have you guess. If it is safe, stop using water in the affected part of the property, keep electrical items away from any standing water and let us know what you can see.
Then send a photo on WhatsApp, if you can. We will take it from there.
Welwyn Garden City customers also call us about less dramatic problems: a slow-draining bath, a smell that will not go away, or a gully that overflows. Do not wait for those to become emergencies. Call at a time that suits you and we will arrange to take a look. The emergency response is there if you need it, but we would always rather help early.
